Speech In Osawatomie, Kansas: President Obama's Student Loan Debt Comment

I'm writing a longer piece about the remarks the President's made in his speech today about higher education, but for now I'll give you a teaser.

He gave this speech in my home state, and said, "We shouldn't be making it harder to afford college -- we should be a country where everyone has a chance to go and doesn't rack up $100,000 of debt just because they went."

And yet we all know there are so many people who have racked up that type of debt to pursue higher education, and are being crushed by their debt.

The President's comment reminds me of what he said during the State of the Union Address in 2010: "In the United States of America, no one should go broke because they chose to go to college."

Two years later, he's basically saying the same thing, and now outstanding student loan debt has hit $1 trillion. Wonder when or if we'll ever solve the student lending crisis . . .
